How to Get Long Hair, Fast!
Did you recently get your hair chopped off—and you’re now regretting it? Or maybe you’ve just always dreamt of having long, beautiful locks, but your hair doesn’t seem to be cooperating. Regardless of your specific situation, you’re probably looking for some tips on getting your hair to grow longer, faster! Unfortunately, human hair grows an average of just half an inch per month (though this varies from person to person). But with these tips, you can promote healthier and faster hair growth!
Try a Biotin Supplement
Your hair relies on both vitamin B and antioxidants to grow nice and long, so if you’re not getting enough of these in your diet, your hair growth may be stinted. Fortunately, there’s a simple remedy to this: just head on over to your local grocery store and pick up a biotin supplement. This over-the-counter supplement, when taken daily, is great not only for hair growth, but for your nails and skin as well!
Indulge in a Scalp Massage
As if you needed an excuse to ask your partner to give you a scalp massage! But seriously, a scalp massage (on dry or wet hair) can help to improve circulation in the scalp, which is believed to help stimulate faster hair growth. Don’t fret if you don’t have somebody to give you a scalp massage. You can give yourself one in the shower! Use your palms to press lightly in small circles around the scalp, starting at your natural part and working your way down the crown to the nape of the neck. Go head, give it a try!
Make an At-Home Hair Mask
With just a few simple ingredients, you can whip up an at-home hair mask that’s packed with the nutrients your hair needs to grow long and healthy: protein, zinc, selenium, and iron.
All you’ll need is:
- an egg (great for your hair!)
- extra-virgin olive oil
- your favorite essential oils (optional)
Simply whisk the egg in a medium-size bowl before adding the essential oils (if you don’t have these, you can add some fresh lemon juice for a better scent). Then, add about two tablespoons of the olive oil and mix well. Liberally apply the mixture onto your head and scalp, and leave it on for about an hour before rinsing it with cold water and shampooing as normal. We recommend covering your hair in a shower cap while the mixture sits on your head to avoid dripping.
Try a Castor Oil Treatment
Castor oil is another item you probably have in your kitchen that can be used to promote healthy hair growth. Specifically, it’s got lots of vitamin E and omega 3 fatty acids, both of which are great for your hair. Simply mix an equal amount of castor oil with some olive oil (almond or coconut oil work well too) and apply the mixture to your hair as you would shampoo. Leave in for about an hour before rinsing and washing as normal. You’ll find that your hair is instantly shinier, smoother, and feels healthier!
Assess Your Diet and Health
Sometimes, a deficiency in your diet or even a health problem can stunt your hair growth. If your hair has a hard time growing, it’s time to assess your diet. Are you getting enough vitamin A, B, C, and E? Are you getting enough zinc and selenium? If not, then it’s time to either boost the amount of foods you eat that contain these or, at the very least, begin taking a daily vitamin.
Some foods that are rich in these vitamins and nutrients include:
- full-fat dairy products
- whole grains
- veggies (especially leafy greens and peppers)
- fresh fruits and fruit juices
If your diet isn’t the culprit, consider your medical history. Oftentimes people with thyroid problems (such as hyper- or hypo-thyroidism) will have difficulty growing their hair and nails. If you haven’t done so, consider having your hormone levels tested by your doctor to rule out these sorts of medical issues, which could be keeping your hair from growing.
Get Your Hair Trimmed
Okay, so this might sound a little counter-intuitive. Why would you want to cut your hair if you’re trying to grow it out? However, healthier hair has an easier time growing than dry, dead, and unhealthy hair. Therefore, if you’ve got lots of split ends and otherwise damaged locks, it could actually be in your best long-term interest to get it trimmed every four to six weeks.
You can always tell your stylist that you want as little trimmed as possible (just enough to get rid of your split ends and other end damage). In stylist’s lingo, this type of haircut is known as a “dusting.” Not only will your hair look and feel healthier after you have this done, but it’ll grow back longer and stronger as well!
Consider Hair Extensions
Of course, if you’re looking for a quick and easy solution to your hair-growth woes, you can always look into having hair extensions put in. Hair extensions are a beautiful, simple, temporary solution to help you achieve the long and voluminous hair you’ve always wanted. With hair extensions, you can enjoy all the benefits of having long hair with the convenience of being able to remove them, and not having to worry about maintaining (coloring, shampooing, and trimming) that extra length.
Halo Hair Extensions
One of our favorite hair extension brands is Halo. We offer two different types of Halo extensions: wire and clip-in. The wire extensions are an innovative new alternative to the glue-in options our clients have loved so far. This product is made from 100% Indian Remy human hair, which gives you the most natural look and, of course, the ability to style it however you want!
The great thing about this option is that with the wire technology, you can easily slip on your hair extension like a headband. It remains totally hidden and looks very natural. We offer two lengths in this option: 16 and 20 inch.
We also offer clip-in Halo extensions, which are made from 100% Indian Remy human hair. We offer three different length options for these extensions: 16, 20, and 24 inches. Clip-ins are a great option for most women, and we can show you how to use and style them at any of our locations. Simply come in for a free consultation and we’ll answer all of your questions.
